Wherever the wall allows. We look for a clear run of studs with no plumbing, electrical, or ductwork behind it, and we're glad to place the door on a plain siding or stucco wall instead of a stone accent. The door is cut to the exact opening, sealed, and finished inside and out so the wall reads clean around it.
